ABOUT:

I am a UK based artist and researcher. I studied Fine Art (BA) at Kingston, and my MA and PhD in arts management at Birkbeck. I work in cross-disciplinary and multi-thematic ways. I make art using a range of media and in response to varying contexts. This includes drawing, painting, sewing, filmmaking, performance, durational work, sound, and writing. The themes I investigate through and with practice explore local and historically situated storytelling and mythologies, identification, motivation, freedoms, and professionalisation. I have exhibited in the UK and Europe, as well as presenting at international conferences, and publishing in academic journals.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
