ABOUT:

Seren Oakley is a Welsh language artist whose creative journey has placed them in the of the North of England. With a multidisciplinary approach to working, their work delves into the intricacies of human connection, dreams, and the stories present in Welsh folklore.

In their exploration of contemporary themes, Seren seamlessly merges ideas of touch and human contact with narratives of digital technology. Through immersive 3D digital spaces, they breathe new life into age-old welsh folklore, exploring 3d game building as a means to tell stories, inviting viewers to embark on a journey through the realms of myth and legend.

Central to Seren's practice is the fusion of the physical and digital worlds. By harnessing generative techniques and sensors, they blur the boundaries between reality and imagination, offering audiences a glimpse into a realm where art and technology converge.

Drawing inspiration from their identities formed from a heritage in Wales and their communities built of the North of England, Seren's work serves as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the limitless possibilities of artistic expression in the digital age.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
