Multidisciplinary artist, curator, activist.
Lauren McLaughlin is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, activist and single mother based in Scotland. She has a BA (Hons) from Central Saint Martins College of Art and is currently working towards her MA in Applied Arts and Social Practice at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Working mainly in collage, neon and text-based installation, her studio practice is concerned with representing the undervalued and invisible labour carried out by women and mothers, and drawing attention to societal inequalities from a Feminist perspective. Lauren is also the founder of Spilt Milk Gallery CIC; a social enterprise based in Scotland whose mission is to promote the work of artists who identify as mothers, and to empower mothers through socially engaged creative activity.
