ABOUT:

I am an Australian artist, researcher and educator based in Co Leitrim, Ireland. My participatory and collaborative artistic practice is concerned with the landscape and cultural context, geopsychology, communities and objects of place, and the archive. Drawing on theory from writers and theoreticians such as Clare Bishop, François Materasso, Hal Foster, Boris Groys, and James Bridle I combine disparate elements of participatory practice, community and collaboration, and digital. I am also very interested in power structures within the process of art making. My practice does not emphasise the artists as auteur, but rather a collaborator who works either as a facilitator with socially engaged groups or as a direct participant often collaborating with other artists.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
