ABOUT:

I'm a 30 year old Conceptual Artist from Liverpool, England, who has spent the majority of his artistic career in Den Haag, The Netherlands, but is now back in the UK.

My work is heavily driven by both concepts and narrative, to the extent that I often reject other facets of my practice (for example process) as I feel they disconnect the artist from their goal, leading to work that is false or disingenuous and film that is forced, rehearsed and fake. Through use of ready made's and raw film I have created my own self-styled 'Hyper or Ultra-Realism' as the semiotic qualities of ready made's do not lie, and raw film serves simply as documentation and I never 'perform'.

Whilst I am extremely serious about my practice, I try not to take my self or my art too seriously.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
