Matthew McGuirk

Discipline:

Writer, videographer, photographer.

Location:

Liverpool

ABOUT:

A writer that has inevitably had ties with other creative fields. Would ideally focus on screenplay writing for TV and film. Currently studying psychology because I needed to find a vocation to pay the bills that could still allow for my creative ambitions to be somewhat realised. Still hope that I can find a position in life where I actually have the time to commit to my personal projects. Have an obsession with film that has waned recently due to a lack of nurturing, but will always be my first true love. Escapism helped save me from an otherwise bleak childhood living as a working class lad among the middle classes.

WORKS:

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
