Michelle Storrm

Discipline:

Painter, Craftsperson

Location:

Liverpool UK

ABOUT:

Michelle Storrm is a self-taught painter specialising in works that combine abstract and naturalistic elements. Her art is influenced by her childhood in Wisconsin, the scientific paintings of artists like Audubon and Gromme, and wunderkammers and other oddities. Her work features the overlooked but tenacious parts of the natural world: mosses and barnacles, ferns and lichens, unloved and invasive species -- a reflection of her own struggles to find a place in the world. She has lived and worked in Liverpool for over 10 years

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
