Discipline:

Ceramicist, photographer, sculptor

Location:

Edinburgh, Scotland

ABOUT:

Siri Burt is a visual artist based in NY and Edinburgh, with her BFA in Photography and Video from the School of Visual Arts. She is currently studying for her MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Siri uses her background in photography and skills in ceramics to create a contemporary re imagining of relics. Using hydro dipping and decal techniques, she fuses images onto ceramic objects. Through this process she considers the personal and social nature of objects and then creates a contemporary reimagining of them using the mediums of photography (contemporary) and ceramics (ancient). Focusing in on ancient stories that interest her, usually parts where the truth falters.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
