ABOUT:

Currently living and working in London, I’m an artist who has evolved a strong relationship with digital imagery throughout my career. Before delving into the world of painting, I worked as a digital retoucher in the fashion industry for over 15 years. Given this strong connection to digital imagery, the significant advancements in AI image generation piqued my curiosity. Over the past year I’ve been creating images that emulate real photographs, using them as references for my paintings.

During this time, I’ve become fascinated by the possibilities to conjure people and places that exist as a constellation of presences across different timelines. Speculative characters who may or may not have existed, or might in the future. By rendering them in oil paint, I offer them a material presence in the world, solidifying them.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
