Discipline:

Muralist, Multidisciplinary Artist, Public Art

Location:

Reddish, Manchester

ABOUT:

I'm a muralist, creating vibrant typographic public art that spreads all kinds of messages, from words of encouragement to engaging talking points. You can find texture, shape and energy in my murals, which are in various locations across Greater Manchester. I work in response to values of inclusivity in a playful and experimental manner, drawing from everyday mundane objects and sights for inspiration. Subverting the use of found materials and giving them new life through art is important to my work.

My practice is driven by the ethos that public art should be safer and more accessible for women, working class folk and other marginalised communities, with a mission to do so through Overspray Collective, which I co-founded.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
