Discipline:

Multimedia Illustrator, Zine Maker

Location:

Leeds, West Yorkshire

ABOUT:

Beth Hewines is a multimedia artist living in West Yorkshire.
Their work is a socially engaged project that consists of a series of zines and workshops.
They have a keen interest in illustration and zine making as a method of community building. Most of their art is created through a combination of collage and print making, using these mediums to build up an interesting range of texture and colour across their works. In response to the rise of AI and the systemic devaluation of analogue content in favour of screens, Beth’s projects aim to bring ‘human generated content’ back into focus.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
