Discipline:

Painter and Mixed- Media Artist

Location:

Hastings, East Sussex

ABOUT:

Sustainability is at the forefront of my practice: I only use upcycled, donated or given materials. Through the process of layering and mark-making, I produce pieces that represent places that I have a strong connection with, where I escape from the world, and take care of my mental health. After writing and making smaller pieces in those spaces, I make larger pieces in my studio. They represent the feeling that I have when I'm there.
I collect plants, if allowed, and make inks that can be used on my work.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
