ABOUT:

A lifelong passion for art kept me working on building my artistic skills alongside various jobs with flexible enough schedules to allow focus on my studies. After finishing a Fine Art course at college found that I still wasn’t where I wanted to be. This lead me to search for more where I discovered the modern realist art movement and a whole new world opened up to me.

This lead me to train in classical realism with instructors who themselves trained in Florence and New York and finally felt like I had found what I was looking for. Thorough, detailed, training, in the principles of the Old Masters, designed to incrementally build solid foundations which give the student confidence and a mastery over their materials. This proved challenging and rewarding in equal measure and has grown to define my artistic sensibilities and given me new skills which I continue to grow each day.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
