Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist

Location:

Ramsgate

ABOUT:

Cherelle Sappleton is an interdisciplinary artist. A trained Sound Therapist with a background in experimental theatre ,she uses music, movement and sound to tune into altered states, a process which directs and informs her creative practice. It is through the lens of collage she views everything. The materials, whilst also being used for their sensual qualities become a substitute for her own body, the act of deconstruction becomes one of digestion and mining, a method of understanding not just the material- sound, found images, fabric etc. but a way of one’s self and place in the world.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
