CHISOM IBE

Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist

Location:

London

ABOUT:

I am a multidisciplinary artist working with photography, filmmaking, printmaking and sculpting, whose practice is currently exploring and responding to the elusive concept and issue of home and the themes surrounding it, through auto-ethnographic research.
Through the recollection of personal experiences, the research aims to explore identity and the construction of it. To make my work I use imagery taken from personal photography and films, as well as archival imagery. The primary process I employ to create my work is the screen printing method of printing and relief printing like process to for my ceramics. My work is characterised by relief, texture, and minimalism.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
