ABOUT:

I am a largely self-taught visual artist and product designer. I work mainly in digital portraiture and surface pattern design, creating illustrations that display Black womxn in the centre of the image, taking up space and reclaiming visibility on their own terms. My illustrations focus on Black joy as well as nostalgia from the perspective of someone who was born in one place but raised elsewhere - the thread that our past weaves with our future, our ancestral connections and how that informs how we build community is something I am continuing to explore within my daily life as well as my art practice.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
