Discipline:

Director, choreographer, dancer, performer

Location:

Whitechapel

ABOUT:

Dance, movement and theatre were my main entrances into art, with storytelling being the engine behind all of them and my practice. Drawing inspiration from my interests in mythology, folklore and universal human experiences. Which has led me over the last two years into film, where I have been exploring how tools learnt from theatre can be used to convey feeling through the camera. Alongside this I am interested in the sliding scale between naturalism and abstraction in movement, and how that can be used to play with senses of realism and fantasy within my work.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
