ABOUT:

My name is Isaac Green i'm a mixed media artist who specialises in abstract and surrealist work. My practice varies from oil paint to sculpture and hand made structures. My work focuses on translating the psyche through my own eyes, focusing on mental illness, gender, sexuality, addiction and what it means to be human. I try to encompass a darker side of the human experience, exploring subjects that are deemed more taboo by larger society and bringing them to the light. I believe that the negative and messy feelings and experiences we have are just as integral to what it means to be a person as the happy and positive experiences. I feel like they are far too often cast aside by people due to them being difficult for people to understand and deal with, they are a part of who we are, a part of what its like to be alive, and i would like to celebrate the somber and macabre the same way we celebrate joy and happiness.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
