Discipline:

Multidisciplinary artist

Location:

London

ABOUT:

I am working across performance, sculpture, film and photography using textiles, ceramics, rubber and recycling garments & objects.
My research focuses on the conditions that influence our sense of identity and belonging (migration, gender, heritage, socio economic background).
I make performable sculptures that transform the performer into a hybrid being going through a transformational ritual. Art is transcendent and magical to me.
Using the body and my sculptures as vehicles for experiencing, this allows me to reflect on emotional, intellectual, and spiritual questions, challenging the audience's views on these matters in a bold and unconventional way, embodying poetry and beauty.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
