ABOUT:

Jo McLaughlin is an art historian, curator, writer and arts for all champion. She writes and presents on all topics art historical and presents the Jo's Art History Podcast. Her approach to the subject is entertaining and engaging, with an aim of bringing art history to audiences in a time where funding to the arts is being continuously cut.

Jo believes stimulating art historical content should be available to everyone and feels that presenting and writing in a fun and relaxed way will help break down the traditional elitism around the subject, which so many often find off putting. Jo is incredibly passionate about this topic and is determined to change the long-standing idea that in order to study or enjoy the arts, you need a top education and be cut from a certain cloth.

WORKS:

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
