ABOUT:

Larna Mewett-Mayer (lunkeymarna) is a Brighton-based artist whose work explores power, visibility, and accountability through printmaking. Her series See the Abuse uses three-colour screenprinting, Snellen Charts, and bold 3D typography to examine how misogyny in the arts is often ignored or reframed as genius. Printed on A4 heavy cartridge paper, each piece challenges viewers to confront the ways in which abuse is excused, and victims are sidelined or romanticised. Rooted in social critique, Larna’s work combines traditional print methods with clear, accessible visual language to provoke conversation and reflection.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
