ABOUT:

Laura Crosbie (b. 2001, London) is a multi disciplinary artist based in South East London. She graduated from Camberwell College of arts, in 2023, with a BA in painting. She works across painting, animation, illustration and book binding. Crosbie takes inspiration from the mundane, wanting to show moments of tenderness, in an increasingly harsh external world. She likes to work from observation and memory, collecting pieces of junk, which are used as a base to generate drawings and paintings. In her paintings imagined creatures inhabit cityscapes, and creep across cracked concrete.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
