Location:

London

ABOUT:

I paint to make the images and worlds consuming my imagination appear on the canvas, with a sense of nostalgia for something I never experienced. Undead images from the Internet, the past haunting the present, an ever-growing darkness.
Gay cruising. Unproductive spaces for unproductive sex. Cruising possibilities, cruising time, cruising darkness, cruising silence. Secrecy as a state of mind, as a parallel world. Twilight, underworld, inner-world, access to fairy-land, to Oz, to a time warp connecting different generations of gay men cruising a different darkness in the folds of history, the same silence and secrecy across time and cultures. The screen of the smartphone as the White Rabbit hole or the looking glass to a dark wonderland full of excitement and hope, gem-like streetlights glistening, terrible and beautiful beasts looming in dark corners.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
