ABOUT:

A British multi-disciplinary artist and arts educator based in Margate, Kent, whose practice explores place, memory, materiality and spatial relationships. Working in paint, print, photography, sculpture, installation and collage, Currently, I draw on a wide range of natural sources to develop paintings that investigate the material and spatial qualities of paint, forming imagined landscapes. These works reflect on how space is perceived and place is experienced through a particular visual language based around emergence. Alongside this practice, my photographic work examines the relationship between everyday objects and their environments, focusing on subtle spatial interventions where objects and spaces converge. The photographs aim to devlop a narrative to challenge conventional ideas of value and function, highlighting the absurd or humorous qualities of the mundane.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
