Contemporary Performance, Theatre maker

Location:

Liverpool/Manchester

ABOUT:

"~~ Hello! I’m olly, a theatre maker/performance artist based in Liverpool, having recently graduated an MA at Salford University in Contemporary Performance Practice. I make autobiographical solo work, usually about the shit that’s currently going wrong at that current point in my life. I play with liveness, authenticity, fragmenting, layering and getting things wrong. My latest work “The Ballad of Me and My Brain” is described as “An ode to mental instability”. The sentiment behind that being both deeply sarcastic due to my personal struggle in dealing with it, but also absolutely sincere in celebrating that HELL YEAH I can confront this in playful and meaningful ways. SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
