ABOUT:

Santhanha Nguyen (b. 1990) is a British-born artist of mixed heritage, currently based in Birmingham, UK. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BCU) and a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design, before transitioning to a full-time freelance artist and art facilitator in 2024.

Known for her Abstract Expressionist style, Nguyen’s work delves into the intricate connections between place, identity, and memory. Often featuring portraits and landscapes, she abstracts these subjects into ambiguous forms, prompting viewers to create their own interpretations. Her aim is to evoke emotional responses, encouraging personal reflection on the complexity of human experience and perception.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
