ABOUT:

Simone Tchonova is an architect based in London. She is director of Tchonova + la Roi Architecture, a practice co-founded in 2021 with architect Matthijs la Roi, materialising from a series of first prize competition proposals.

Tchonova + la Roi Architecture aims to create high quality spaces while responding to the distinct elements of each individual project, from historical and social, to cultural and natural aspects of place. The practice is deeply engrained in a meticulous design process from conception to built realisation. The work aims to innovate in fabrication and construction techniques by bringing together their extensive experience in building design. The practice also integrates a non-exclusionary approach, ensuring that spaces are made for the differences of all people.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
