ABOUT:

Playing with the idea of excess and overstimulation, my work is a response to the constant overproduction and overconsumption of media, data or product. Heavily influenced by advertising, cultural shifts and the rise of technology, I explore the interaction and connection between ourselves and the online, creating dreamlike images that feed on and manipulate the psyche. Growing up in a consumer-based society, the works reflect on this environment and our insatiable obsession with “more”. I aim to overwhelm the viewer, providing a sensory experience that is both an absorption of social construct whilst being totally estranged from it too, mirroring the sensation of existing in a society that was not made for me.
Combining digital techniques with physical elements attempts to create space where both co-exist, showing the normality of our interconnected lives and questioning if the difference between our virtual and tangible worlds isn’t as vast as we thought.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
