ABOUT:

Hello, I’m an artist-designer working with words in the world. I’m motivated by sharing stories and seeking to involve others in the creative process helping to express and celebrate people and place. I work with found text, poetry, with co-created content inviting communities to share and develop ideas, and with content from good old fashioned enthusiastic research. The resulting public artworks have high production values plus a genuine sense of ownership by the community.
These approaches have led to commissions for permanent artworks in the environment from The National Trust, English Heritage, the Environment Agency, RSPB, North York moors National Park and many local authorities and arts organisations. This has also included collaborations with other artists and poets including the Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, and twice National Poetry Prize recipient, Ian Duhig. Artwork mediums to carry text have included etched paving, stained glass, seating carrying poetry, metal wall panels and hand-carved stone.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
