ABOUT:

I am a Jarman Award winning artist, filmmaker and cultural activist whose multi layered practice calls for a profound re-imagining of the relationship between people, place and ecology. Through my practice I ask how we might resist being framed exclusively through class, gender, ability or disability, and even through geography. My films, I hope, contribute attention to the under-expressed intersection of public and private memory with itinerant lives, human and otherwise and often in relation to structural and political violence. My practice employs imaginative hybridity and narrative re-framing, alongside reverie and a creative waywardness - processes where radical encounters use filmmaking practice as a form of social dreaming.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
