ABOUT:

I am a British artist of Goan decent. Born in Uganda in the time of dictator Idi Amin, myself and my family fled Uganda and settled in a small Welsh coastal town. Here I found solace and orientation in the often dark and mysterious landscape, qualities which still underpin my work.
My practice explores mark, colour light and form through layers of graphite, glazes of colour, and paired down sculpture. Forthcoming audio works will examine the layering sound, generated artificial audio textures, speech and silence.
As part of Output Arts, I create immersive multi-sensory installations with communities, scientists and researchers that focus on a common experience from loss, or volcanic eruption, as well as much bigger global forces like the wind and storms as they move across a landscape.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
