ABOUT:

Charlotte Collier-Hunter is a London-based ceramic artist and founder of Preaface Ceramics, specialising in handcrafted functional and sculptural works. Her practice is inspired by the alchemy of materials and the four elements, with a strong focus on sustainable heritage craft and slow living. Born in New Zealand and having lived in Europe and Australia, Charlotte’s work is shaped by her connection to nature and global experiences.

As a disabled, neurodivergent artist living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Charlotte advocates for greater visibility and support for neurodivergent artists. She transitioned from a 20-year nursing career to ceramics, completing an intensive pottery course during the UK lockdown. Her works are known for their thoughtful, minimal designs, crafted to be cherished for generations.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
