Cliff’s work draws on personal and social histories, referencing migrant experiences. He works within a diverse and dynamic range of media, taking in drawing, printmaking, photography, film and installation, with a rigorous commitment to research which allows him to weave many sources and references into his work.

While his work is rooted in personal experiences, his practice reaches out touching broad and universal concerns such as a desire for belonging and connection to place. Cliff’s current research explores his themes through ‘walking as art practice’. His audio essay, Bristoler Chronik, developed with Bricks Bristol, explores his approach to walking and the ideas it allows him to explore (available on Apple Podcasts.)

Cliff is a Tutor and Lecturer at Bristol School of Art and Cardiff School of Art.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
