ABOUT:

Confrontation and benevolence, isolation and belonging, above and below, humour and disgust, shyness and seduction; switching between the two exists the life and work of Council Baby. The paradoxes that live within the mind and the dichotomy of life forever being the inspiration.

“I’m interested in that geezer down the pub who plays it all hard man to his mates, then when he gets home, he treats his Mrs to a cup of tea calling her his princess. Or that gorgeous looking apple that you bite into it and it’s rotten. From poetry to installation; I create art about how things that are so good can be so bad and vis versa. My work often explores feeling of fragility, yet paired with sarcastic and humorous titles. I love playing with that contrast”.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
