Evangeline Harrison

Discipline:

Prop Making, Puppetry

Location:

Leeds and Derby

ABOUT:

"My work primarily explores the themes of alien existence, the human subconsciousness and lived experience in a digitalised world. I take great inspiration from British sci-fi predominately from the late 70s onwards, futuristic and apocalyptic sorry lines, uncanny characters, puppetry and prop making. Craft is important in my work as it allows explore outside of the digital realm, the handmade is the one thing that remains totally ‘human’ in a ever changing futuristic society. For me it represents my childhood of growing up watching a lot of cartoons, making art out of any materials I could find and spending a lot of time in nature exploring. Exploring is so important, especially in the world we live in today. "

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
