ABOUT:

I am primarily a visual artist known for innovative community projects that provoke engagement and action. My work regularly draws on themes of grief, trauma, and meaning, creating shared purpose and interconnection. I am a diaspora single mother and parent carer for my autistic son. I studied drawing at Doncaster art college, specialised in weaving on dobby looms in Huddersfield, and taught art textiles and food tech in Yorkshire schools. I have worked in and with, a variety of educational settings, community arts, and nonprofits and charities -including the wildlife trusts with a local food project. I have created non profits and charities and received a Footprint (National) award for sustainability and a Doncaster CVS (local voluntary sector) award both for community work and innovation . I was commissioned in Aug 2025 by Artbomb to make ‘Rendition’ a month long exhibition of art, curated objects and activism calling for an apology for the deportation of thousands of unmarried Irish mothers and their infants who were born as British citizens. Drawing on my own experience of this.
The exhibition is looking to tour community spaces. I was invited to contribute to an ambitious exhibition by National Museum of Ireland entitled Changing Ireland that will open in October 2025 this will include art and from ‘Rendition’ and a photograph of my mother and her grandmother taken on the back step of Castlepollard mother and baby institution.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
