Discipline:

Contemporary Visual Arts & Cross-disciplinary

Location:

Blackpool, Lancashire.

ABOUT:

My work explores queerness as a better cultural premise to notions of new-normal. Formal, frolics, minimal meanders and abstract associations play out within sculptural installations that adopt a self imposed rule of 'nine inches apart, together, away, repeat'.

Work evolves and is influenced through my working class coastal provenence, Blackpool. The clandestine ways in which queer lived experience is forced to and or chooses to hide in plain sight. For me, engaging with art and ideas is a cruising ground for new relationships and potential to be imagined.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
