ABOUT:

Hello! I’m Gen - an artist, producer and facilitator based in Bristol, UK.

Over the last 7 years I’ve been exploring embodied play for personal, social and political change - through fooling, clowning, Theatre of the Oppressed and other creative forms.
Previously I trained in Fine Art at Spike Island, UWE.

Alongside my own art practice I produce theatre shows and immersive events, as well as facilitating workshops and projects rooted in values of social justice and collective care.

Collaboration is central to my work. I’ve moved within co-created spaces throughout my adult life - in D.I.Y spaces, temporary autonomous zones, alternative art schools, festivals, clown collectives, theatre collaborations, peoples kitchens, community centres, in care work and activist projects.

I’m a disabled, working class queer with an intersectional lens and I like to work with people who are marginalised by the mainstream.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
