Jamie Holman

Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist

Location:

Lancashire

ABOUT:

Holman's work is multi disciplinary and is often fabricated or made in collaboration with either industrial processes or with heritage crafts makers and artists. His work is informed by the heritage of working class communities, in particular the impact of the industrial revolution and the cultures that have manifested as a consequence of its emergence and subsequent decline.
Holman’s work is almost always collaborative and he also works as one half of “uncultured creatives “ a creative studio practice in partnership with curator Alex Zawadzki, presenting works in public, digital and traditional gallery spaces. Holman’s work seeks to interrogate “who we have been, are now and may yet become.”

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
