Multidisciplinary Artist

ABOUT:

Liangqing Yuan aka. Jash / Jia Xu (b.1994, Shanghai) is a London-based conceptual artist working across video, photography, print, installation, performance, event art and everything in between.

Humour, satire, and illusion making are at the core of Jash's practice. Her works show that her play with definitions of people, objects, states and fields, etc., seems to create new interpretations in a fallacious way to break some clichéd situations. Besides, Jash is also pleasant to put herself in the works as a medium to interact with the audience. She plays the identity of a magician and a server, combined with her costume, makes the works present greater mystery, charm and interpretation.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
