Julia Rogers

Discipline:

Fine Artist, Educator and director of art studios

Location:

Ramsgate, Kent

ABOUT:

I work with objects and ideas. I sculpt and manipulate material. I paint, draw, print and collage. I give voice to my thoughts, emotions and subconscious.

Currently my attention is given to objects and possessions and the following statement reflects my focus in 2022.

Virtually all possessions have value in reflecting the self. What is mine is that which defines me. Possessions vary in the degree to which they have this effect and 'treasured' possessions have more significance. Photo's, memorable mementoes are examples of objects we imbue with meaning. They are like time machines and can transport one back to a significant time, place or person.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
