Discipline:

Visual Artist

Location:

Preston, Lancashire

ABOUT:

My practice as a visual artist is driven by my desire to comprehend our induvial social engagement with the everyday. Predominantly concentrate on the navigation our immediate surroundings and how we respond to a specific moment withing the setting we are in, what relevance our induvial perception and comprehension has to the reactions that are evoked.
I have found a multi-disciplinary practice the most appropriate way to achieve my outcome, primarily photographing moments of routine within everyday life this remaining the consistent source; with light, time, and colour being obvious inspiration within the final pieces of work. The result is abstract interpretations of these experiences these have been presented as installations, film, projection, digital paintings, and drawings.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
