ABOUT:

Celeste the Hooker is a queer British/French visual artist and documentary photographer living and working between London and Paris. Their practice engages with themes of intimacy, labour, and representation, with a particular focus on sex work and the politics of visibility. Through long-form documentary projects, Celeste examines the complexities of sex workers’ lives, seeking to challenge dominant narratives and expand the cultural imagination surrounding sex, power, and agency. Working at the intersection of art and activism, their work offers a nuanced counterpoint to mainstream portrayals, situating sex workers’ experiences within broader social and political conversations.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
