Niya Prabhakar

Discipline:

Painting, Interdisciplinary art and design

Location:

London

ABOUT:

My work explores how diverse life experiences shape personal growth and identity. Each piece intends to capture these moments of transformation, inviting viewers to connect with their own journeys of self-discovery.

I utilise abstract, digital, and photographic elements to create artefacts that convey deeply personal narratives. Amidst the transience of contemporary trends, my art seeks to be an anchoring force of stability. I come from a hands-on, creative background, having grown up with parents who run a small interior design studio in North India. While much of my artistic practice is rooted in traditional methods like painting on canvas—which can be unstructured by nature—my personal approach is grounded in routine and discipline. I’d say my practice lies right at the intersection of fine art and communication design.

I seek to collaborate with curators and space designers who also wish to create intimate multi-sensory art experiences for their audiences.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
