Rain Howard

ABOUT:

Rain Howard is a visual artist and researcher, currently living and working between Essex, London, and Newcastle. They hold an MFA from Goldsmiths University and are a current AHRC funded PhD candidate situated withing the spaces of appearance in theatre and performance research cluster at Northumbria University.
Their practise fluctuates between sculpture and performance, through which they explore repetitive exercise practises as a site for rethinking non-binary gender expressions and reposition how non-binary bodies are practised in athletic contexts.
Their MFA degree show ‘Apparatus’ (2018) won them the Acme and Goldsmith’s studio prize. More recently they were awarded with a Firstsite gallery collectors bursary (2023) and were also the Artquest adaptions awardee (2023) both of which have supported further development of their research.
