Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist

Location:

London

ABOUT:

Becca Blue is the alter ego of visual and performance artist Rebecca Molloy.
Initially born from a love of karaoke, Rebecca created the character for a group art exhibition where she sang karaoke to one audience member at a time. Rebecca decked out a walk-in cupboard with a disco ball, karaoke machine, satin fabrics and disco lights and donned a blue velvet catsuit, fake lashes and a blonde wig to serenade her unsuspecting audience members. The cupboard was guarded by a bouncer.

Now, for the first time, Becca Blue is a musical artist in her own right. In 2025, her debut EP, which includes songs written by herself and in collaboration with Oliver Chapman will be released. It will be accompanied by several music videos, with sets and props made by the artist herself. These videos will build the world of Becca Blue and her comrades.

WORKS:

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
