Discipline:

Non - commercial artist

Location:

Birmingham, UK

ABOUT:

Howdy! I'm a Birmingham based artist of multiple disciplines and co-founder of the South Asian Arts Collective (SAAC)

Half of my practice involves doing graphic design for community, education and heritage projects. The commercial aspect of graphic design (otherwise know as "commercial art") is an issue for me which is why I have turned my hand to using art and design to benefit the community - hence the title non-commercial artist.

The other half of my practice involves making weird paintings and videos that explore the playful side of my imagination that I hope connects with the imagination of others.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
