Tess Radcliffe

Discipline:

Multidisciplinary Artist and Writer

Location:

Walsall, West Midlands

ABOUT:

I am a film-maker, multidisciplinary artist and founding Director of Radcliffe Art Productions. I create & co-create films with communities which are rooted in a sense of place, the local, and the community.

My creative practice explores landscape, light, technology, and wildlife/the natural world in urban, suburban and industrial spaces through digital photography, film, music/audio, drawing and print. I work collaboratively with communities to create films, images and audio recordings.

My academic (PhD) research interests focus on still life painting from the 16th century to the present day, the concept of the ‘grotesque’ and notions of death and the ‘sacred’, particularly as defined by Georges Bataille.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
