Discipline:

Poetry / Playwrighting

Location:

London

ABOUT:

Having grown up on a council estate, writing poetry has always felt more accessible than reading poetry. So, for this reason, my poetry usually cant be defined by a particular form or structure, instead it works like freehand thoughts and ideas. I have been published in a couple of London based online magazines, and I won a competition for Hypersensium. As i am growing older, I feel more inclined to match my poems with either video or theatrical form. I have begun writing plays and mood boards for films, mostly based on my experiences of queer youth in a working class environment.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
