The Working Class Creative Exchange at Factory International

Get to know fellow working class creatives with an evening of music, stalls and discussion.

The Working Class Creative Exchange has been made in collaboration with the The Working Class Creatives Database, Factory Academy and working class staff at Factory International.

Drop by the Social for a panel discussion on working class experience in the creative industries featuring Chanelle Windas and Seren Metcalfe – directors of the Working Class Creatives Database –  in conversation with Remus Thompson and Kofi Gyamf, a participant and youth worker from Reclaim in conversation with Paddy Nicholls and Emma Honeyford.

Plus, find out about employment, training and creative opportunities at a variety of stalls hosted by The Working Class Movement Library, Odd Arts, GM Business Growth Hub’s EnterprisingYou, Factory International, PINK and more.

The night will be soundtracked by Bury artist Tommy Ryoma, with a performance from Lancashire ballad singer Jennifer Reid, as well as guided networking and free chips and gravy and a drink for the first 100 attendees. Travel reimbursement will be provided for those who need it so keep your receipts.

SUPPORT WORKING CLASS CREATIVES (1).png

'Working Class Creatives' responds to a need which is too often overlooked in the arts; that of the barriers facing working-class artists from getting on in our sector. They are instrumental in initiating much-needed change that will see the art world become more inclusive and reflect the society it purports to serve. I often search their database in my research, it is a vital resource for any arts professional working in culture today. That they have got this far on so little financial resource is remarkable and I am excited to see what they will achieve with further support.” Beth Hughes, Curator, Arts Council Collection.
